Located in southern Portugal, the University of Algarve (UAlg) is headquartered in Faro, capital of the Algarve. With 42 years of existence and a privileged location with direct access to the main routes connecting Europe and the world, this academic institution has acquired a central and international status, visible on the streets of the city of Faro, which annually receives around 1,700 international students from more than 84 countries. Over the years, UAlg has been multiplying and consolidating its training offer in its three campuses – two in Faro and one in Portimão – offering undergraduate and integrated masters degrees, masters, doctorates and postgraduate courses, which spread across its major areas of training: Arts, Communication and Heritage; Social and Educational Sciences; Health Sciences and Technologies; Exact and Natural Sciences; Economics, Management and Tourism; Engineering and Technologies.

Scientific research has been a fundamental factor for the development of the University, placing it on a trajectory of national and international recognition. The excellence that governs its research and development activities is reflected in the dense network of partnerships established with universities and R&D institutions around the world, in the most diverse fields.
It appears for the fourth time in the Times Higher Education (THE) Young University Rankings 2021, which analyzes the performance of higher education institutions created 50 years ago or less, standing out in the indicator that assesses international outlook.
